Latvijas attīstībai on May 15 held a congress to decide on amendments to its statutes, providing that the party will have three co-chairs instead of previous one chair.
The party since last year did not had an officially elected chairman, while MEP Ivars Ijabs was the party’s acting chairman. On the congress three co-chairs were elected – MEP Ivars Ijabs, Minister of Environmental Protection and Regional Development Artūrs Toms Plešs, and Priekuļi municipality chair Eīna Stapulone.
The congress participants were addressed by Defense Minister Artis Pabriks, MP Juris Puce, Riga City Council lawmakers Anete Jekabsone-Zogota, the party’s board member Edgars Jaunups.
Latvijas attīstība in the upcoming local elections will run in 27 municipalities with 509 candidates in its own and on the joint tickets, including ten current local mayors.
