At the annual party congress “Latvijas attīstībai” elected a new party board for a two-year mandate, approved the goals and tasks set by the members for the newly elected board, and approved the code of ethics, as well as listened to the speeches of the party leaders and debated the challenges to Latvia’s economy.
The party members at the congress elected new party leadership for a two-year term. Minister of Defense Artis Pabriks, Member of the European Parliament Ivars Ijabs (Renew Europe), an economist and one of the founders of the party Juris Pūce have become co-chairs of the party. And as members of the party board were elected – Mārupe County Council Member Aivars Osītis, Minister of Environmental Protection and Regional Development Artūrs Toms Plešs, Cēsu County Council Member Elīna Stapulone, economist Vjačeslavs Dombrovskis, Gulbene County Council Member Normunds Mazūrs, Aizkraukle County Council Chairman Leons Līdums, Riga City Council Member Viesturs Zeps and representative of the party’s youth wing “Attīstībai Youth” Katrīna Ruzaiķe. Moreover, Uldis Eglavs was re-elected as one of the three members of the party’s audit committee.
“Liberalism is an infinite belief in optimism, the future, and that everything is possible for a person, as long as we do it. On the other hand, as a party, we need to renew our policy work, strengthen ourselves professionally, revitalize our work by attracting members and being open to cooperation,” one of the co-chairmen of the party Juris Pūce highlights the future work.
“Latvijas attīstībai” three priorities must be set as the three i’s – industrialization, innovation, and infrastructure. We have done a lot of work in the defense sector, both for our security and economy. The Ministry of Defense makes a real contribution to Latvia’s economy. In Latvia, we produce armored personnel carriers, drones, jeeps, and much more,” emphasizes Minister of Defense Artis Pabriks.
“The core of our organization is strong, healthy, and resilient enough to overcome the wave of conservatism and extremism against the European liberal movement. Classical liberalism goes hand in hand with patriotism. Classical liberalism is liberalism with fists!” member of the European Parliament Ivars Ijabs (Renew Europe) is convinced.
As “Latvijas attīstībai ” strengthens in the regions, it is also reflected in the composition of the newly elected board, with the head of the Aizkraukle municipality gaining representation, as well as the municipal deputies and representatives of the regional branches of Gulbene, Cēsu, Mārupe and Bauska counties.
Among the goals and tasks of the party for further work directed by the members and approved by the congress are the establishment of the Riga party branch, strengthening of the other regional branches of the party, and preparation for the European Parliament elections to elect two representatives from the party list.
The “Latvijas attīstībai” is a classically liberal party of Western-oriented choice, which unites capable and professional people who are ready to take responsibility and implement the reforms necessary for the development and growth of the country.
